RIPMe is the place to record all the things you'd want people to know if you weren't around to tell them yourself.

Your funeral. Your pets. Your playlist. Your digital life. Your favourite people. The practical stuff. The sentimental stuff. And the stuff you'd really rather your family didn't have to guess.

You answer the questions, choose your Protectors and decide who gets access to what.

Hopefully they won't need it for a very long time.

Is RIPMe a will?

No.

Your will deals with the legally binding parts of your estate. RIPMe sits alongside it and deals with the information, wishes and practical details you want the people you love to know.

RIPMe isn't a substitute for a will or professional legal, financial or medical advice.

Can I update my answers?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely.

Changed your mind about cremation? New pet? Different playlist? Finally accepted that nobody else likes that particular bottle of whisky as much as you do?

Update your answers as life changes.

That's the point.

Question 4

What's a Protector?

Accepted Answer

A Protector is someone you trust to help RIPMe verify that you've passed away and, once verification is complete, receive the information you've chosen to share with them.

You decide which categories each Protector gets access to.

They can't see your answers while you're alive.

How many Protectors do I need?

Accepted Answer

At least two.

We recommend three.

You can have more, but remember: every Protector must confirm you've passed away before RIPMe releases your information.

Two is the minimum. Three is the sweet spot. Five might be a committee.

Why do all my Protectors have to agree?

Accepted Answer

Because we're holding information that you specifically asked us not to release until you're gone.

One person's word isn't enough, and neither is a majority vote.

Every Protector you've nominated must confirm your passing before RIPMe releases your information through the standard Protector process.

Question 7

What happens when I die?

First, one of your Protectors can initiate the process.

RIPMe then follows its verification process, including attempts to contact you.

Your nominated Protectors are asked to confirm your passing.

Every Protector must agree.

Once all verification requirements have been completed, your answers can be released according to the categories you've assigned to each Protector.

If you're reading this because we've contacted you and you're very much alive, that's exactly why the safeguards exist.

Can one Protector release my information?

No.

Not two out of three. Not four out of five.

Every nominated Protector must confirm your passing before your information is released through RIPMe's standard Protector process.

What if one of my Protectors doesn't agree or doesn't respond?

Your information isn't released through the standard Protector process.

That's why choosing your Protectors matters.

We recommend three people you trust, who know you and are likely to remain contactable.

Can my Protectors see my answers while I'm alive?

Accepted Answer

No.

Being your Protector does not give someone access to your private answers.

They only receive the categories you've assigned to them after your passing has been successfully verified.

Can different Protectors receive different information?

Accepted Answer

Yes.

You choose which categories are assigned to which Protectors.

You might want one person dealing with the pets, another handling practical matters and someone else making absolutely certain nobody serves dry sandwiches at the wake.

Can I change my Protectors?

Accepted Answer

Yes.

While your account is active, you can update your Protectors and the categories assigned to them.

Life changes. Relationships change. Your Protectors can too.

Question 13

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

Your RIPMe protection stops when your subscription becomes inactive.

Your Protectors can no longer declare or confirm your passing through RIPMe, and your answers cannot be released through the Protector process.

We don't immediately delete everything you've spent time creating.

Your answers are retained for up to 12 months so you can change your mind and come back.

What happens to my answers after I cancel?

We'll keep them for up to 12 months.

Restart your subscription during that period and you can pick up where you left off without losing your answers.

If you don't reactivate within 12 months, your stored answers and associated account content may be permanently deleted.

Am I still protected during those 12 months?

Accepted Answer

No.

This distinction is important.

We store your answers for up to 12 months so you can reactivate without starting again, but your Protector coverage is inactive.

No active subscription = no active protection.

What happens if I die after my subscription has expired?

If your RIPMe subscription isn't active, your Protectors cannot use RIPMe's Protector process to declare or confirm your passing and your answers will not be released through that process.

Keeping your subscription active keeps your RIPMe protection active.

Question 17

If I turn off auto-renew, does my protection stop immediately?

Accepted Answer

No.

If you've already paid for a subscription period, your subscription remains active until the end of that paid period.

Turning off auto-renew simply means it won't renew automatically.

Your RIPMe protection stops when the subscription actually becomes inactive.

Question 18

How do I pay for RIPMe?

Accepted Answer

Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Apple or Google handles your payment details. RIPMe receives the information needed to know whether your subscription is active but doesn't receive or store your complete card details.

Where is my information stored?

Accepted Answer

RIPMe uses Amazon Web Services (AWS), MongoDB and Google Firebase as part of our application infrastructure.

Customer records are also maintained in our Salesforce CRM environment, which is hosted in the Sydney, Australia region.

Should I put my passwords in RIPMe?

Accepted Answer

No.

Tell us where your loved ones can find them — for example, your password manager, secure document, lawyer or other trusted location.

Don't put the actual passwords, PINs, cryptocurrency private keys or other sensitive security credentials into a normal RIPMe answer.

Can I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Yes.

Deleting your account is different from cancelling your subscription.

Cancellation allows us to retain your answers for up to 12 months in case you reactivate.

If you request account deletion, you're asking us to delete your account and associated information rather than keep it for reactivation, subject to any information we're legally required or permitted to retain.

Are my RIPMe wishes legally binding?

Not necessarily.

RIPMe is designed to give the people you love clear information about what you wanted. It doesn't replace your will, enduring power of attorney, advance health directive or other formal legal documents.

If something needs to be legally binding, get appropriate professional advice and put it in the appropriate legal document.

Can a Protector make decisions about my estate?

Not simply because they're a RIPMe Protector.

Being a Protector doesn't make someone your executor, attorney or legal personal representative.

Their RIPMe role is limited to the functions available to Protectors within RIPMe.
